NEEC BOC Approved Provider Program

OVERVIEW

The NEEC BOC Approved Provider Program is designed to provide Building Operator Certification (BOC) candidates and credential holders with a variety of educational opportunities in building operation, maintenance and energy management. BOC Approved Provider organizations are eligible to offer course offerings that assist in completing the BOC credential. Course offerings through approved providers are also eligible for BOC continuing education hours for recertification*.

The approved provider program provides building operators with the quality assurance that the programs under the approved provider label will contribute to their professional expertise in energy efficient building operation and maintenance.

*BOC credential holders are required to renew certification annually. Level I candidates must earn 5 hours of continuing education hours; 10 hours are required for Level II.

BOC APPROVED PROVIDERS

City University of New York

The Building Performance Lab was established at the City University of New York, within the CUNY Institute for Urban Systems, with support from the New York State Energy Research Development Authority (NYSERDA). The Lab's mission is to establish Building Performance work as a "new normal" for building operations in New York City. We promote continuous improvement processes, skills development, and the application of cutting-edge practices for monitoring of energy use, the indoor environment, and occupant satisfaction. As well as working withm people who are already building operators, we also develop internships, curriculum, and student projects to guide the next generation into this field. We are one part of a broader "Sustainability Initiative" at CUNY that encompasses teaching, research and implementation of practices by many individuals across our nineteen urban campuses. Lab Director Michael Bobker has been a practicing energy engineer in NYC buildings for thirty years, holds a Master of Science in Energy Management and is a Certified Energy Manager (CEM).
