Maintaining Certification
Continuing education following completion of BOC certification
improves the ability of operators to cope with changing building
equipment, technologies, and practices.
To remain certified, BOC graduates must accumulate re-certification
hours. Five (5) hours per year are required for Level I, and 10
hours per year for Level II. Visit the national BOC web site for
more information on qualifying activities for BOC re-certification
hours.
The BOC program allows graduates to earn continuing education hours
for attendance of independently-offered and in-house training classes
relevant to their profession. It is not necessary for operators
to attend classes offered through the BOC program to earn continuing
education hours.
In California, BOC renewal notices are issued to graduates annually
in January for re-certification. The renewal application is due
in March of each year. The fee for renewal is $45 which includes
a new wallet card and a processing fee.
Where To Find Continuing Education Classes
Continuing education classes for facilities professionals in California
are offered throughout the year by the BOC-sponsoring utilities
