NEEC Offers New 100%
BOC Certified Award
The Board of Directors of the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council
(NEEC) is offering a new “100% BOC Certified” award
to companies that certify 100 percent of their building engineering
staff through the Building Operator Certification (BOC) program.
The Facility and Technology Department/Plant Operations Division
of Providence St. Peter Hospital (Olympia, WA) was the first department
in the country to earn the award. The hospital was recognized for
this achievement at an awards ceremony at the conclusion of the
Washington State Society of Healthcare Engineers meeting. Accepting
the award for the hospital was Geoff Glass, Director of Facilities
and Technology.
“Facility departments that certify 100 percent of their
engineering staff demonstrate commitment to their profession by
raising the skills and capabilities their department to address
facility efficiency,” says Stan Price, NEEC’s Executive
Director. BOC training gives operators the tools to help their
companies save money on utility costs every day by properly maintaining
equipment and optimizing operation of lighting and heating and
cooling systems.
Five Providence St. Peter Hospital operators earned BOC certification
following a year of training and project work in the program. They
include Gary Achman, Terry Alboucq, Ed Krause, Rod Lupo, and Don
Taylor.
The following companies and organizations are on track to becoming
100% BOC certified: Raytheon, Equity Office Properties – San
Jose office, St. Joseph Medical Center, City of Oakland, the Naval
Air Weapons Systems at China Lake, Eldec Coroporation, Washington
State General Administration, Intermec, St. Charles Medical Center,
Josephine county, Melvin Marks Property Management, King County
Library System, City of Eugene, City of Renton and Pacific Northwest
national Labs.
If your department is on track to become “100%
BOC Certified”, you may be eligible for recognition from
