2011 NEEA Evaluation Report Finds BOC Yields Energy Savings

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance (NEEA) has recently released the report: Long-Term Monitoring and Tracking Report on 2010 Activities. In the report, NEEA's third-party evaluator, Navigant Consulting, examined the post-funding market effects of five projects: BacGen, Building Operator Certification, Drive Power, ENERGY STAR Residential Windows, and the SAV-AIR Initiative. Navigant estimates these projects yielded an incremental 2.9 aMW in 2010 with the most significant savings associated with Building Operator Certification (1.5 aMW). These projects yielded a cumulative savings of 41.6 aMW to date. Download the full report from NEEA.

BOC Instructor Earns Water Conservation Leadership Award

The Partnership for Water Conservation presented BOC Instructor and owner of Watershed LLC, Michael Laurie with its 2010 Watershed Conservation Leadership Award. The award honors those in the Puget Sound Region who have made significant contributions toward encouraging water conservation and who have worked diligently to develop water conservation programs, activities, education and/or policy. BOC Now an Approved Education Provider for USGBC

The US Green Building Council (USGBC) has approved BOC® Level I classes as continuing education training for LEED® professionals seeking to maintain their credentialing requirements. This meticulous approval process, with extensive reviews from third-party experts, gives the BOC® program excellent exposure to a diverse green workforce.

LEED® Accredited Professionals and LEED® Green Associates need continuing education hours, 30 and 15 respectively, every two years to maintain their LEED-AP and LEED-GA standing. Each of the seven BOC Level I classes provides from 7 to 14 hours toward this requirement. We look forward to providing LEED® professionals with training in this dynamic field of energy-efficient facilities operations.

Northwest Energy Efficiency Council Receives
ARRA Funding for Department of Energy Project

On June 17th the Department of Energy announced that the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council (NEEC) was awarded $549,000 in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to support advanced energy-efficient building technology projects. Funding will be used to develop new curriculum to address energy efficiency knowledge gaps in the existing national Building Operator Certification (BOC®) program.

NEEC Receives Authorized Provider Status from IACET for BOC Training!

The Northwest Energy Efficiency Council has been approved as an Authorized Provider by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET), for its Building Operator Certification (BOC) program. Approved Providers meet the widely recognized ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard for administering training and education.

BOC Instructor named ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer

NEEC is pleased to announce Hank Jackson, instructor in the North Carolina BOC program, was recently named an ASHRAE Distinguished Lecturer. Distinguished Lecturers provide ASHRAE chapters with noted authorities who speak on relevant topics that impact the HVAC&R industry. The new lecturers will serve a two-year term. There are 75 Distinguished Lecturers representing 15 countries for 2008-09. Please join us in congratulating Hank for this achievement.
