Prestigious Authorization Demonstrates Commitment to High-Quality Lifelong Learning
The International Association for Continuing
Education and Training (IACET) has awarded the Northwest Energy
Efficiency Council (NEEC) the prestigious Authorized Provider status
for its Building Operator Certification training program. IACET
Authorized Providers are the only organizations approved to offer
IACET Continuing Education Units (CEUs). The recognition period
extends for five years, and includes all programs offered or created
during that time.
“NEEC is proud of our BOC program which has certified over 5000 facilities management professionals in the past decade. BOC training teaches participants to implement energy-saving O&M strategies at their facilities, saving costs and energy, as well as improving the environment for workers in industrial, commercial, governmental and educational buildings. What they learn helps O&M personnel stay on the cutting edge of available energy-efficiency methods and technologies,” stated NEEC’S Executive Director Stan Price. Price added, “Our new partnership with IACET is a demonstration of our commitment to lifelong learning and high standards for all of our programs, and we are very pleased to join such a prestigious organization as well as an elite group of organizations that offer excellent continuing education and training programs.”
“We are pleased to welcome the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council as our newest Authorized Provider organization for its Building Operator Certification training,” stated Dr. Fred Baker, president of IACET and Administrator for Continuing Professional Education at Columbus State Community College in Ohio. Baker added, “NEEC joins nearly 650 organizations around the globe that have had their programs vetted by third-party experts in continuing education to ensure the highest possible standards are met.”
BOC is a competency-based, professional training and certification that provides energy-saving operational strategies for M&O staff and technicians. The certification provides a credential for professional development but, more importantly, the training gives participants the opportunity to save money at their facilities almost immediately upon starting training through projects geared to deal with their specific facility issues.
In order to achieve Authorized Provider status, NEEC completed a rigorous application process, including a review by an IACET site visitor, and successfully demonstrated adherence to the ANSI/IACET 1-2007 Standard addressing the design, development, administration, and evaluation of its programs. NEEC has pledged its continued compliance with the Standard, and is now authorized to use the IACET name and Authorized Provider logo on promotional course material. In addition, NEEC is now linked to the IACET web site and is recognized as offering the highest quality continuing education and training programs.
NEEC is a non-profit trade association of the energy efficiency industry. Member companies provide energy efficient products and services for commercial, industrial and residential customers. Other member companies assist in utility and government clients design, deliver and evaluate their energy efficiency programs.
