Duties and responsibilities: Perform maintenance and repair of building mechanical systems including heating, ven-tilation, air conditioning, refrigeration, and plumbing. Coordinate with supervisor on plans, priorities, and assignments; prepare requests for purchase as required. Com-plete alterations, repairs, and new installa-tions on various building mechanical sys-tems; perform related work; use hand tools and power equipment as requested; main-tain clean work area; know and observe work rules and safety practices; keep records and submit reports as required; operate and maintain district vehicles and equipment as required; ensure safe and proper use of all equipment; identify and initiate energy conservation measures; protect the interest of the district regarding pilferage, loss, theft, or abuse of district supplies and equipment; maintain physical condition and health status necessary to perform duties and responsibilities; comply with district safety rules and regulations; perform other related duties and responsi-bilities and assist in other craft areas as assigned.
Requirements: Three or more years of experience in one or more of the following areas: HVAC, refrigeration, commercial plumbing, pipe fitter, boiler repair, or ener-gy management systems and controls. Or, currently enrolled in a Commercial Build-ing Engineering or Heating, Ventilating,
Air Conditioning and Refrigeration technical college program. Have a good working knowledge of mechanical codes, and the ability to troubleshoot, repair, install, service, and maintain mechanical systems. Troubleshooting skills, proficiency with low voltage controls, and experience with energy management systems is essential.
Ability to read blueprints and schematics; ability to read, write, and communicate effectively; ability to establish and main-tain effective working relationships with co-workers; ability to perform sustained physical labor indoors and out, to comfort-ably lift 50 pounds, to work at heights and on ladders, in tight or confined spaces, to work safely; valid Washington State driv-er’s license or ability to obtain within thirty days, and a good driving record.
