The City of Lawrence, Kansas is seeking a Building and Structures Manager to plan, coordinate, manage, and oversee the maintenance and repair of municipal buildings and facilities for the city. Lawrence has a population of approximately 90,000, provides a vibrant cultural scene, and is home to the University of Kansas and Haskell Indian Nations University. Key job duties include managing and maintaining municipal facilities to include parking garage structures, facility operations, energy efficiencies and energy management, capital project planning, project management, and federal FAA compliance for the Lawrence Municipal Airport. Other key job duties include overseeing the work of contractors and staff engaged to conduct skilled trades and manual work on city facilities, including office buildings, operations buildings, and special use structures. The manager will plan, prioritize, assign, supervise and review the work of managerial, supervisory and technical staff responsible for providing a variety of facility and structural maintenance services.
The Building and Structures Manager acts as the primary customer support / Public Works representative for all facility related items.
QUALIFICATIONS: Equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in facility management, or a related field. This position also requires at least six years of increasingly responsible experience in facility management, construction or a related field including at least three years of supervisory experience. Building Operator Certification, Level I & II is also required, or must be capable of obtaining within 12 months of date of hire. Must pass background check, physical and drug screen and possess, or have the ability to obtain, a valid driver’s license.

STARTING SALARY: $58,686 TO $85,094 ANNUALLY DOQ (STARTING SALARY TYPICALLY AT ENTRY LEVEL OF PAY RANGE)
