Position Information:
The first level of the Facilities Management Series is responsible for performing a variety of basic custodial and building maintenance duties that could include: cleaning floors and carpeting; collecting and removing waste; performing simple repairs; assisting with more technical repairs; and recording inventory of cleaning supplies and related materials.

The Facilities Management Assistant is distinguished from the Facilities Management Technician in that it does not perform any trades-based duties requiring specialized training.

This position will work evenings, M-F 3pm – 12am and will be subject to schedule adjustments as needed to accommodate City meetings, etc.  The finalist will be subject to a pre-employment physical and background check.  This position is represented by the EBA and the contract can be found on the City’s website, www.mylongview.com.

Essential Job Duties:
Regular attendance is an expectation of all positions.
Performs a variety of custodial duties which includes: cleaning offices, lounges, workrooms, libraries, restrooms, entryways, stairwells, and hallways; sweeping floors; dusting; mopping, buffing, sweeping, and vacuuming floors; cleaning windows; cleaning and sanitizing sinks, counters, shower areas, toilets, and water fountains; cleaning and sanitizing medical areas; replenishing toilet paper, towels, and soap; washing walls, baseboards, doors, and handles; cleaning carpet; and/or, performing other related activities.
Operates and maintains a variety of cleaning and/or maintenance equipment and tools.
Conducts minor repair and maintenance duties that could include touching up paint, changing light bulbs, and other basic repairs related to buildings or equipment.
Opens and closes city buildings and related facilities.
Assists with more complex projects under the guidance of higher level Facilities Management Staff.
Monitors available inventory and notifies appropriate individual(s) when stock levels reach specified levels.
Sets up facilities for various City meetings and events.
Performs other duties of a similar nature or level.
 Minimum Qualifications:
Training and Experience (positions in this class typically require):
High School Diploma or GED; and 1 year of basic custodial and/or building maintenance experience.
Licensing Requirements (positions in this class typically require):
·          Valid Driver’s License
Note: Additional qualifying experience may, at the discretion of the hiring manager, substitute for the required education of the assigned position.
