A City of Seattle Grade I Steam License or City of Seattle Grade II Steam License is REQUIRED.
A City of Seattle Grade II License or City of Seattle Grade I License is required for this job; however we are accepting applications from applicants with a Grade III City of Seattle Steam Engineers license, with the condition that they must obtain a City of Seattle Grade II Steam Engineers license, within four (4) months of employment.
Job Responsibilities: |

§ Operate, maintain and repair central plant high pressure, fire tube boilers and chillers and low pressure package boilers, both steam and hot water and associated equipment.
§ Operate, maintain and repair 2 central plant Centrifugal Chillers and associated equipment.
§ Perform inspections, installation, repair and preventive maintenance on existing equipment including valves, pumps, air compressors and associated equipment
§ Troubleshoot and repair A/C Units, Heat pumps and appliances.
§ Operate, install, troubleshoot and repair HVAC computerized control system.
§ Operate and maintain back-up diesel generator systems
§ Monitor and reset fire control panels.
§ Repair and maintain hydraulic systems on compactors and truck ramps.
§ Monitor and record readings of all equipment, prepare maintenance records of repair work.
§ Respond to routine emergency calls.
§ Perform, chemical test and treatment for boilers, cooling towers and Hydronic and chilled water loop systems.

Qualifications: |
·MUST already POSSESS a CURRENT City of Seattle Grade I or II Steam Engineers License
·PLUS requires two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of HVACR systems or a minimum of two years’ experience in a technical school HVACR coursework (or combination of education, training and/or experience with provides equivalent qualifications).
·OR; POSSESS a CURRENT City of Seattle Grade III Steam Engineers License PLUS Must have the ability to obtain a City of Seattle Grade II Steam Engineers license, within four (4) months of employment.
·Must have the ability to obtain a City of Seattle Refrigeration Operator’s License within 90 days of employment.
·Must obtain CFC Universal Refrigeration Certificate within 12 months of employment
·Required to stand, walk, climb, climb ladders or bend for extended periods of time.
·Able to lift up to 50 lbs. safely and effectively.
·Requires working at heights and in restricted areas using precautions and attention to safety procedures/equipment.
·Work requires exposure to excessive noise and requires taking safety precautions around equipment.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
Seattle Center is a 24/7 – 365 operation. HVAC Technicians work varying shifts, including days, nights, weekends and holidays.

This position is a standalone position, while on duty there are frequently no other engineers to provide assistance in case of equipment problems. This demands an incredibly broad base of knowledge about virtually all our heating and air conditioning systems and the ability to troubleshoot and repair those systems to ensure ongoing support to events.
