This article is first in a series which will highlight various utilities in the Northwest that offer energy efficiency incentive programs to their business customers. The first utility we are highlighting is Puget Sound Energy, a utility providing electric and gas services to customers throughout the Puget Sound area for more than 135 years.
Puget Sound Energy offers business customers rebates and grants to offset the upfront cost of energy-efficient improvements. Opportunities include: Lighting- Everything from instant discounts on LED lamps at participating vendors to incentives that cover up to 70 percent of comprehensive project costs. Custom grants for building retrofits cover up to 70 percent of project costs, up to $0.30/kwh or $5/therm saved. These grants cover many types of cost-effective energy-efficient upgrades, including HVAC controls, VFDs, condensing boilers and more! New Construction- The utility can incentivize individual measures that exceed code up to 100 percent of incremental project costs, up to $0.30/kwh or $5/therm saved. In addition, a whole-building incentive based on overall performance and post-occupancy commissioning grants is available. PSE and Cascade Energy offer a jumpstart for industrial customer’s efficiency efforts. Industrial System Optimization Program (ISOP) gives businesses the financial tools and technical support you need. Comprehensive building tune-up- cost-effective and substantial energy savings can be achieved through improved operation and maintenance (O&M) of a wide variety of non-residential buildings. Financial incentives are offered to building owners who engage in PSE’s Comprehensive Building Tune-Up program for optimizing existing building systems.
The Resource Conservation Management (RCM) and Strategic Resource Management (SRM) programs provide incentives, training, and data services to commercial customers that wish to achieve utility cost savings through behavioral changes, occupant engagement, operational improvements, targeted facility maintenance, and attention to utility accounting.
